COVID-19 Dashboard Now Features Geographic Focus

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– San Bernardino County officials, in partnership with Esri, have enhanced the County’s COVID-19 dashboard with the notable addition of a new page focusing on the locations where the disease is spreading. (Esri is the Redlands-based supplier of geographic information system software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications that developed the County’s COVID-19 dashboard, as well as those elsewhere around the world.)

The new tab on the dashboard page is marked “Locations,” and it provides geographic-specific information on infections and testing. Visitors to the page and tab can now easily grasp where infection outbreaks are occurring, and the tool enables county health officials to focus resources and communications where the need is greatest.

“We have learned that effectively combating COVID-19 and allowing our County to reopen requires a more detailed understanding of where infections are arising,” said County Public Health Director Corwin Porter. “This new tool greatly enhances our ability to pinpoint hotspots and respond quickly to isolate those who have been infected. It also tells us where we should consider concentrating resources such as testing sites.”

The new page features maps with neighborhoods color-coded to align with the State’s purple-to-yellow tier framework, along with data on cases, testing, deaths and other measures presented on a community-by-community basis.
