BLM to temporarily close Johnson Valley OHVA for ‘King of the Hammers’ race Jan. 28-Feb. 6

(Victor Valley)– The Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close public lands in the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area between Jan. 28 – Feb. 6 in order to enhance public safety during the annual 2021 King of the Hammers event. The annual desert race is authorized by a BLM Special Recreation Permit. For more information, go to

Additionally, the Bureau of Land Management is hosting several virtual public and stakeholder meetings for input on the development of off-highway vehicle (OHV) grant proposals.
