Free Document Shredding & Recycling Drop-Off at Victor Valley MRF on Feb. 6

(Victor Valley)– Are you looking to off-load some of your old paperwork, TVs, appliances, mattresses, and more?  Take advantage of the Free Shred-Fest and Recycling Drop-off at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  This event will feature drive-through document shredding, electronic waste and appliance disposal, and mattress and box spring recycling.  All activities are FREE and open to residents of the High Desert. The Victor Valley MRF is located at 17000 Abbey Lane in Victorville, near Stoddard Wells Road.

Free Shred-FestHigh Desert residents can bring up to four banker boxes of paper documents to be shredded.  A shredding company will be on site, so residents can watch their documents get shredded.  Shredding will occur from 8 a.m. to noon or until the shred truck is full.

Free Drop-off of TVs, Computers, Appliances, Scrap Metal, and Electronic Waste: Area residents and businesses can drop off TVs, computers, scrap metal, and appliances for free.

Free Recycling of Mattresses & Box Springs: Twin, full, queen, and king mattresses and box springs can be dropped off for free by residents.  Futon mattresses will also be accepted.  No sleeper beds, crib mattresses, or mattresses from businesses will be accepted. 

The Buy Back Center will not be open, and the compost giveaway will not take place during this event.

COVID-19 safety protocols have been established to reduce risk to the public and employees working during the Shred Fest at the Victor Valley MRF. These safety guidelines, which are in accordance with directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), will be posted and enforced at the event.

Attendees must remain in their vehicles until instructed by an attendant to unload vehicles. All attendees must wear a face covering and follow social distancing protocols while at the Victor Valley MRF. Do not visit the facility if you are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days.

The Victor Valley MRF serves as the processing center for recyclables from Victorville and Apple Valley’s curbside and commercial/business recycling programs.  The MRF is also a buy back and drop-off recycling center open to the public and businesses.  It is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  It is closed Saturdays and Sundays.
