NAMI Support in the High Desert

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Inland Valley is a grassroots mental health organization that is dedicated to building better lives for everyone affected by mental illness with emotional support and educational classes.  Inland Valley serves the High Desert’s communities with free and confidential support groups for both the individual and family members affected by a mental health condition.

NAMI Family Support Group is a bi-weekly meeting for 18+ family members of individuals with a mental illness where family members can talk frankly about their challenges and help one another through their learned wisdom.   NAMI Connections Recovery Support Group is for the 18+ individual with a mental health condition. This is not therapy or for crisis intervention.  This group promotes social connection, support, compassion, mindfulness, self-care and communication.

Both meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 6 – 7:30 PM at the Ascension Lutheran Church located at 22130 Ottawa Road, Apple Valley, CA.  Also, NAMI Inland Valley is now accepting applications for an upcoming Family-to-Family Class, May 4 – June 22, 2021.  The NAMI Family-to-Family Class is a free, 8-session education program for family members, partners, friends and significant others who have a loved one living with mental illness. The class will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 9 PM at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 22130 Ottawa Rd, Apple Valley.
