(Victor Valley)– Located in Oro Grande, Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch is one of Route 66’s most unique and beautiful attractions. Although artist Elmer Long passed away in 2019, his forest of bottle trees lives on, drawing fans from around the world.
If you’re touring the Mother Road, be sure to drive by Elmer’s collection of 200 steel trees which were made with roughly 10,000 bottles. Word has it that it would take Long one week to complete each bottle tree, which holds about 50-100 bottles apiece. The crowning glory on each tree includes found objects such as airplane propellers, railroad signs, antique milk bottles, cash registers and saxophones. Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch is located at 24266 National Trails Hwy., Oro Grande, CA 92368.
Note: Please observe the art respectfully from the road, as this is a private residence.
