(Victor Valley)– The Federal Trade Commission is warning seniors about a new scam that targets the generosity of grandparents. In the scam, crooks call seniors pretending to be a grandchild in distress, sometimes with an additional scammer on the line pretending to be a lawyer needing cash to represent the child in court.
What makes this new scam especially frightening is that they will ask to come to your door to pick up cash, rather than the usual scam method of asking for virtual gift cards or wiring money.
If you believe that you have been the victim or a scam, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
