(Apple Valley)– The Apple Valley Police Department will join the nation’s first responders in hosting its National Night Out event at Civic Center Park on Tuesday, August 3.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and show support for law enforcement partners in the local community.
“This is a great community event where families can come out together and learn more about crime prevention, meet first responders and see equipment like firetrucks and a Sheriff’s helicopter up close,” said Mayor Curt Emick. “We are encouraging all residents to join us in support of our local law enforcement officers and programs in this nationwide annual event.”
The Apple Valley Police Department will have information on crime prevention, No Drugs America, games and giveaways. Children’s fingerprinting will be available and McGruff the crime dog will be on scene. The California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will have vehicles on display and interactive exhibits and activities will be offered by the Apple Valley Fire Department and the Town’s Park and Recreation Department.
