(Apple Valley)– Drivers will soon be able to travel smoother and quicker along Stoddard Wells Road thanks to the upcoming reconstruction and widening project, scheduled to begin next week.
The reconstruction project will close Stoddard Wells Road from Interstate-15 to Johnson Road, from Oct. 1 through late November. Detours will be in place during construction. Dale Evans Parkway will remain open during construction.
The existing 22-foot-wide road will be widened to 26-feet to accommodate truck and vehicle traffic with a heavier asphalt section and 13-foot wide reinforced shoulders.
“North Apple Valley has seen a significant increase in traffic due to the development of the Walmart and Big Lots distribution centers,” said Orlando Acevedo, Director of Business Development and Communications. “The reconstructed roadway will help meet the time-sensitive logistics needs of our current industry partners and their employees, as well as future projects.”
The project is funded in part by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA), contributing 45 percent of the project’s $1.6 million dollar cost. The balance will be paid for out of a combination of Traffic Impact Fees and local Measure I funds.
