(Wrightwood)– The community of Wrightwood is planning a variety of fun fall activities this weekend, starting with the Chili Cookoff, Salsa Contest and Jeep Jamboree on Saturday morning. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Wrightwood Community Building, located at 1275 Park Street.
Salsa tasting ($3) runs fro 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and Chili Tasting ($5/10 tastings) will take place from noon until the pots are empty. There will also be a beer garden, cornhole tournament, jalapeno eating contest and live music.
Wrightwood’s Oktoberfest will follow that evening from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 9 at Wrightwood Place, located at 770 Highway 2. The event will feature a beer competition, silent auction and live polka music featuring Anton Schnitzel and the Merrymakers. Tickets are $40 per person, or $70 per couple. The price includes brats, German potato salad, sauerkraut, lebkuchen cookies and beer. General admission at the door is $20, and meal purchase at the door is $15. Beers are $5, or $10 served in a commemorative Wrightwood beer stein.
Proceeds will benefit WWPOA events and operations, which includes the Village Trail, litter removal on Highway 2, senior scholarship awards, and annual village events such as the ice cream social, safe trick or treat, and holiday Christmas caroling.
