(Victor Valley)– The Monday before Thanksgiving has been recognized as “Public Health Thank You Day” by the American Public Health Association. Public Health staff serve day in and day out in programs that promote dental care, provide access to healthcare, prevent lead poisoning in children, reduce the numbers of mosquitoes, encourage pet adoption, ensure food safety and much more.
Monday, Nov. 22, is the 629th day that the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health has activated its emergency response system to address COVID-19. A year ago, a vaccine was non-existent and hospital rooms were exceeding capacity to treat COVID-19 patients. This year, County staff and volunteers have helped over one million San Bernardino County residents become fully vaccinated, making it possible for them to return to learn, work and play in person, and to reunite with loved ones just in time for the holiday season.
Thank you, Public Health, for your resilience and dedication to improve the health, wellness, safety and quality of life in San Bernardino County!
