By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– California has added two new routes to the U.S. Bicycle Route System’s national network, including one that runs right through the First District! USBR 66 travels 333.6 miles from Santa Monica to Needles along Historic Route 66.

Developed by the Adventure Cycling Association, the U.S. Bicycle Route System is a national network of bicycle routes connecting urban and rural communities via signed roads and trails. All U.S. Bicycle Routes are designated by state departments of transportation and approved by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials).

The new Route 66 route travels through Victorville and Barstow before joining the National Trails Highway toward Needles. Some of the route does travel along the Interstates, so caution is advised.
